BOBS - Breakfast On Beech Street

Breakfast on Beech Street (B.O.B.S.) is an all-volunteer program which serves a free hot breakfast and sack lunch to-go each weekday morning from 6:30 a.m. to 7:15 a.m. to anyone in the Abilene community who is in need. Any person who is hungry is served without prejudice or qualification .  Guests include day laborers, homeless, senior citizens, individuals and families or single parents with children. B.O.B.S. opened its ministry on May 15, 1996, in the Perry Center for Outreach, located at North 3rd and Beech Street.  

B.O.B.S. is hosted by First Christian Church and now has grown to a coalition of six Abilene Churches. B.O.B.S. is supported with volunteers and donations from the participating churches and private organizations. Serving days of the week:

  • Monday-Heavenly Rest Episcopal Church
  • Tuesday-First Christian Church with The Holy Family Catholic Church serving on the fifth Tuesday of the month
  • Wednesday-First United Methodist Church
  • Thursday-First Central Presbyterian Church
  • Friday-Highland Church of Christ.

In addition to providing a Christian atmosphere and nourishing food for the guests, Bibles are also available, either to read during the meal or for guests to take with them.
